Activities

Re-imagine existing assets

Oral histories that were recorded as audio files can easily be converted into video clips. If you work with groups of children to create pictures that illustrate the story being told, these images can be imported into the video clips as a slideshow. The result is something that’s inter-generational, engaging for visitors and a learning activity for the kids who take part.

An 18th Century engraving of a pensioner smoking a clay pipe fades into a photo of a tourist blowing bubbles from a pipe. The images merge and fade between each other in an endless loop.

Be snap happy

OK, so a middle-aged man smoking a pipe isn’t the ideal image for an activity that’s primarily aimed at children. But it does illustrate how even the most unlikely items can be turned into a fun digital activity – with the addition of costumes, some props and the PhotoLoop tool.

Create welcoming spaces

If you’re working on a project with speakers whose first language is not English, we may be able to help. Smartphonic AXS already supports multiple languages, including Welsh, and we’d be happy to discuss adding more. Contact Us

Let’s use digital technology to make collections more accessible, involve communities, and have fun through engaging activities that encourage visitors to look at exhibits in close detail.
